Whenever it comes to nintendo in general nowadays most of the titles released for their systems can easily be labeled as for kids only. Scribblenauts for Nintendo DS will take you on an exciting and challenging adventure and is suitable for all gamers 10 and up. If these options are not enough, there is also a level editor where you can get creative by editing completed levels to provide different outcomes and sharing them with other players on the Nintendo Wi-Fi system. Free play can also be unlocked once a level is completed where the player can achieve a gold star for completing the level three consecutive times with no repeat objects. To make things more exciting there are additional challenges that you can do throughout each level to gain extra merits, such as not summoning a weapon to complete the level. ![]() Action levels are great for fans of side-scrolling platforms where you lead Max through obstacles in order to reach the end and move on to the next level, collecting Starites along the way. ![]() Puzzle levels involve real-life situations (such as saving a trapped character) and Starites are awarded upon determining the solution to complete the puzzle and move forward. There are two types of levels: puzzle and action levels. Scribblenauts has 220 levels that span over 10 theme areas, all which are ranked on a four-star rating based on difficulty. For example, if you write the word “balloon,” you will be given the option to choose between different varieties such as a hot air balloon or toy balloon. The database even has a homonym system that offers distinction between different-sounding names as well as a spellchecker to provide close matches if a word is misspelled. For example, writing the word “ladder” can provide Max a way to gain access to a Starite that may be out of reach. Scribblenauts has nearly unlimited possibilities for solving puzzles throughout each level by allowing the player to summon objects by writing them on the screen. For example, if there is a horse you can tap on it so Max can ride to future destinations, or if he is holding a weapon you can tap him to shoot obstacles. Once you see an object that you would like Max to have, simply tap on the object and he will pick it up or interact with the object in some way. To navigate Max through the game all you have to do is tap on the touchscreen. The objective of this game is to solve puzzles and collect “Starites” by using or summoning objects to help Max on his journey. Developed by gaming company 5th Cell and published by Warner Bros, Scribblenauts for Nintendo DS features a main character named Maxwell who you travel with from one level to the next solving puzzles and navigating through action levels.
